Meme Science, LLC awarded Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund contract to create replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s War Memorial Wall in Second Life.

Huntington, WV. - September 14, 2007 – Meme Science, LLC, a leading provider of web based marketing solutions and development services today announced it has received a contract from the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund to create a replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s War Memorial Wall in Second Life.

Meme Science will open the Vietnam Veteran’s War Memorial Wall simulator to Second Life residents in early November 2007 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the dedication of ‘The Wall’ that took place in Washington DC in November 1982.

"We have spent the last couple of months planning, and building a replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall, the 3 Soldiers Statue, the Vietnam Veteran’s Women’s Memorial, and the surrounding area." said Robert Egan, president of Meme Science. "We feel very good about the project thus far, the feedback has been excellent from friends, and from the people that have helped us with the build. We are about to welcome the Second Life residents in to spend some time at The Wall, and honor those Veteran’s that made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The whole planning and building process has been very important to all of us at Meme Science, and to those that have helped with the project. We knew from the start it was a very special project, and we feel grateful it came out as we had hoped it would."

About the Vietnam Veteran’s War Memorial Wall

The Memorial Wall is made up of two black granite walls 246 feet 9 inches (75 meters) long. Each wall is made up of 72 panels each, numbered 1E through 70E and 70W through 1W, the last two panels on each wall have no names and are left blank. Each panel is 40 inches wide. At the highest tip (the apex where they meet), they are 10.1 feet high, and they taper to a height of eight inches at their extremities. As of May 2006, the names of the 58,253 men and women are included. They meet at an angle of 125 degrees, 12 minutes, pointing exactly to the northeast corners of the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. The walls are supported along their entire length by 140 concrete pilings driven approximately 35 feet to bedrock. The black walls would be chiseled with the names of Americans killed or missing in Vietnam, listed chronologically, by date of casualty. The largest panels have 137 lines of names, while the shortest have one; there are five names on each line, although with new additions of names, some lines now have six; the walls are supported by 140 concrete pilings driven approximately 35 feet (some are at 20 feet) to bedrock. Granite for the wall came from southern India. The names (and other words) on the wall are 0.53 inches high and 0.015 inches deep.
